In the last 3 years, BARÓ has played an important role in introducing and promoting Latin American artists to an international audiences and helping to establish a life dialogue between artists and institutions.
In this new moment, Baró gallery venue is a 1.500sq hangar located in the neighborhood of Santa Cecília, in São Paulo, Brazil.
The gallery priority is to exhibit site-specific and curatorial projects with a strong development in contemporary artists from 70’s /80’s like David Medalla, Felipe Ehrenberg and Roberto Jacoby to co-exist with young artists like Toby Christian, Flávia Junqueira, Lourival Cuquinha, Mariana Sissia, among others. The baró has a biennal exhibition called ’20 years and something’ where it present young artists to the market in a contact research of upcoming talents.
The constant flux of ideas, projects and artworks make the space an unique environment. Its also important to mention the residency programme where international artists are invited to produce artworks in the space taking as reference the local cultural environment and also the exchange between important institutions and foundations like Izolyatsia, in Ukraine among others.
We point out the exhibitions “Sunday, Night: Tatiana Trouvé and Roman Signer” and “History of Mondrian Fanclub: Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Clark, Lygia Pape”, as one of many examples of statements produce by the Baró staff.
During the last years the gallery is part of many artfairs like Miami Basel, Armory-NY, ArteBO, ArteBA, SP-Arte, Art-Rio, Pinta London, etc.
Nos últimos 3 anos, a Baró Galeria tem desempenhado um papel importante na promoção de artistas latino-americanos para o circuito da arte internacional e ajudado a estabelecer um intenso diálogo entre artistas e instituições.
Neste novo momento, a Baró encontra-se em um hangar 1.500 m² localizado no bairro de Santa Cecília em São Paulo, Brasil.
A prioridade da galeria é exibir obras ‘site-specific’ e projetos curatoriais, com um forte desenvolvimento de artistas contemporâneos dos anos 70 e 80; como David Medalla, Felipe Ehrenberg e Roberto Jacoby para coexistir com jovens artistas como Toby Christian, Flávia Junqueira, Lourival Cuquinha, Mariana Sissia, entre outros. A Baró também realiza uma exposição bienal chamada ’20 e poucos anos’ aonde jovens artistas são apresentados ao mercado, gerando um importante mapeamento de futuros talentos.
O constante fluxo de ideias, projetos e obras de arte torna o espaço um ambiente único.
Também é importante mencionar o programa de residência, onde artistas internacionais são convidados a produzir obras de arte no espaço da galeria, tomando como referência o ambiente cultural local. Vale também destacar o intercâmbio entre importantes instituições e fundações, como Izolyatsia, na Ucrânia, entre outras.
Destacamos as exposições ‘Sunday Night: Tatiana Trouvé e Roman Signer’ e “History of Mondrian Fanclub: Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Clark, Lygia Pape”, como um dos muitos exemplos de mostras produzidas pela equipe Baró.
Durante os últimos anos, a galeria participa de feiras de arte como Miami Basel, Armory-NY, ArteBO, ArteBA, SP-Arte, Arte-Rio, Pinta Londres, etc.
