Albert Pinya

Artist in collaboration with the gallery

b. Palma de Mallorca, 1985. Lives and works Mallorca in Spain.

Medal of Honor BMW Painting Award 2016. In the year 2007 he receives the Primer Award for the “Artjove. Illes Balears” program and is selected by the Italian curator Achille Bonito Oliva to form part of the exhibition “No more. The game’s on”, at the Vostell-Malpartida Museum (Cáceres, Spain). His work starts from an intentional and ironic ingenuity that manages to dismantle the perverse structures of reality. He has quickly developed a unique and identifiable style, in which he applies the codes of popular culture, comics, illustrations and a thoughtful naive aesthetic that hides a precise treatment of the themes he explores. Pinya’s artwork renies “l’art pour l’art” and understands that, as it is a medium of expression, art is eminently communicative and must always be based on an ideology. For all this, more than talking about ‘artistic creation’ we would tend to talk about ‘artistic reaction’.The painting, the drawing, the sculpture, the mural, the ceramics, the installation, the performance, the graphic work and the sound are the media with the ones that he develops to develop the speech of his narrations.
