Fernando Renes


Born in Covarrubias, Burgos, 1970. Live and works between Bilbao  and Covarrubias, Spain.
His practice commenced in the 90’s, with his contribution and animation as the main means. When in 2014 he returned to Spain after 17 years living in New York and Rome, started working on ceramics, giving a three-dimensional and vernacular support to his piezas. There is an exhibition at Casa Encendida (Madrid), DA2 (Salamanca), CAM Raleigh (Carolina del Norte), Mucsarnok Kunsthalle (Budapest), Cabañas Cultural Institute (Guadalajara, Mexico), Caja de Burgos Art Center CAB (Burgos), Fundación Santander Bank (Boadilla del Monte, Madrid), TRANS ›area (New York), Fundación BilbaoArte Fundazioa (Bilbao) and MAC Genalguacil (Málaga), among others. His work forms part of the collections of the Botín Foundation (Santander), MUSAC Museum of Contemporary Art of Castile and Leon (León), Center d´art La Panera (Lleida), Federico García. Lorca Foundation (Granada) or the Queens Museum of Art (New York). Also appears in publications like 100 Spanish artists (EXIT, 2008), the Vitamin D, New Perspectives in Drawing (Phaidon, 2005).
