Biography
She started painting at the age of 7 and when she was 15 she started observing the movements and signs of the urban environment to which she belonged, thus creating her own language: "voodoo punk", as she refers to herself. Brenda works with acrylics, oils and pastels on canvas and cotton paper, as well as making some works on wooden siding collected from the streets. The artist has had solo exhibitions in Amsterdam, Berlin, São Paulo and Campinas, where she had her solo "SUBCONSCIENTEMIM" at MIS. She has also participated in group exhibitions such as "Oh, I love

Brazilian women" (New York, 2022) and belongs to the collective of black artists "PretasIncorporações". Her imagery is composed of music, photography and the chaotic atmosphere of the city.

"When I go to think about a series, as much as it is a delirium, I start painting thinking about people I know. I portray emotion and turn those people into creatures. It's not visible, it's a voodoo kind of thing. Spirituality has always been in my life and it's on canvas, it comes from this affliction and from the street, which is the punk (movement)", adds the artist in an interview for Harper's Bazaar in 2021.
