Zhanna Kadyrova's work covers various media such as photography, painting, drawing, video and performance but it was her mosaic sculptures that turned her known worldwide. The mosaic is a language very present in Ukraine and has its roots in the Soviet tradition. By using such language, the work of Kadyrova wins historical, political and social significance, also by the use of simple and routine materials such as broken ceramic tiles, cement, wood and stone. In 2013 she won the Main Award of the PinchukArtCentre Prize, the most important of her country, and also participated in the Venice Biennale.
