Room 1 | Tiago Tebet: 8 Billion Flowers
Curated by Esmeralda Gómez GaleraIn Eight Billion Flowers, his first solo exhibition in Mallorca, Tiago Tebet (São Paulo, 1982) explores fragility and permanence through the floral motif. Inspired by the ability of flowers to evoke the passage of time, death, and spirituality, the Berlin-based Brazilian artist presents a collection of works that combine painting and textiles, transforming the fleeting nature of flowers into something enduring.
In his textile pieces, Tebet expands painting beyond traditional boundaries by tearing, reconstructing, and reconfiguring the canvas, creating vibrant, textural abstract forms that evoke flowers in constant mutation. The exhibition title refers to the idea of an event: just as a blooming flower and a human life are both unique and unrepeatable moments. This parallel also alludes to the world's population, with its eight billion "events." -
