Residentes : Alan Fontes, Felippe Moraes e Ramonn Vieitez, Cureted by Adriano Casanova
Curated by Adriano Casanova, the exhibition marks the debut of the gallery’s Residency Program and features young artists from other states of Brazil. During the residency period – which ranged from one to two months – the artists from Pernambuco (Ramonn), Rio de Janeiro (Felippe), and Minas Gerais (Alan) experienced the city of São Paulo, more specifically the Santa Cecília neighborhood where the gallery is located, and each, in their own way, incorporated elements of this experience into the conception of their work.
Alan Fontes, 34, received support from the Foco Bradesco Art Rio 2013 Award for his residency. In the Minas Gerais artist’s exhibition, six previously unseen paintings will be displayed, continuing the “Desconstruções” series. This series focuses on ruined houses whose architectural structures are partially preserved, revealing an ambiguous aspect of destruction.
In the exhibition “Ordem” by Felippe Moraes, 26, sculptures, paintings, and photographs will be presented that engage with the unpredictability of mathematics, the invisible aspect of space, and metaphysics—a poetic attempt to measure existence and to delve into the fundamental relationships between man and the world, language, and matter.
Ramonn Vieitez, 23, a self-taught oil painter whose work is characterized by a dark universe filled with urban symbols and occultism, was captivated by the pronounced blues of the city at dusk, the “pixo” style of São Paulo, and the psychic atmosphere of the city.
