“HOMAGE TO CLARICE LISPECTOR” PERFORMANCE DE DAVID MEDALLA E ADAM NANKERVIS
HI ADRIANO !Adam Nankervis organised a very memorable LONDON BIENNALE 2012 : THE RAINBOW – POLLINATION which opened last Thursday, the 23rd of August 2012, at ‘another vacant space.’, the beautiful art showroom he directs here in Berlin, at Biessentaler 16, in the Wedding district. Ivor Stodolsky, Roberta Kravitz, Kai Teichert and I gave performances during the opening of the exhibition which featured art works made by international artists for the individual vitrines in Adam’s collection. Please look up the London Biennale website in Facebook.I fly to England day after tomorrow, on Tuesday, 28 August 2012, to prepare for my coming trip to Brazil. I am greatly excited by going to Brazil again.Here are some of the things Adam and I will need for our performance.
1. Text in Portuguese of the book ‘The Hour of the Star’ by Clarice Lispector. Please have at least two copies of this book.
2. Text in Portuguese translation of the book entitled ‘A Room of One’s Own’ by Virginia Woolf. Please have several copies of this book. Maybe the publisher of Virginia Woolf in Brazil can provide free copies of the book and maybe the publisher can also be a sponsor of my performance with Adam.
3. Twelve (or more, if they are not too expensive) small torches (flashlights) complete with batteries.
4. Small circular metal mirrors – small enough to hold in the palm of one’s hand.
5. Long lengths of ropes and strings.
6. Two large white linen or white prepared canvasses to cover the end walls of the Galeria Baro.
7. Paint brushes and tubes of acrylic paints in white and in the colours of the rainbow.
8. Long lengths of silk or cotton ribbons in white and in the colours of the rainbow.
9. Several pairs of scissors.
10. For our performance, we would like to connect a laptop or computer for the music which Adam will download via the internet,
and a separate laptop or computer which will project live images during our performance.
On the afternoon of Sunday, the 2nd of September 2012, Adam and I would like you to organise a sit-down lunch in the middle of Galeria Baro, with the tables decorated by fresh flowers of Brazil.
Adam and I would like you and Maria Baro to host the lunch.
Please invite to the lunch your partner and your baby daughter, Martin Bernard and his and Maria’s two sons , Marta Ramos and her partner, Renata Padovan, Andrea Fiore, Juliana, Claudia Jaguaribe, Tatiana Trouve, Roman Signer, and others you and Maria would like to invite.
We would like someone to film/video the lunch, during which Adam and I will ask you, Maria and the guests to talk to us about Clarice Lispector.
Adam and I will take a siesta after the lunch.
In the evening, during our performance, we would like the film/video of the lunch to be projected on the white linen canvasses (items no. 6, above).
