Sunday, Night: Tatiana Trouvé and Roman Signer

2 September - 3 November 2012 São Paulo
Overview

The Baró Galeria is pleased to present the exhibition Sunday, Night, curated by French curator Marc-Olivier Wahler.

Wahler served as curator of the Palais de Tokyo from 2006 to 2012. Between 2000 and 2006, he was the director of the Swiss Institute – Contemporary Art (SI) in New York and is also co-founder of the Centre d’Art Neuchâtel in Switzerland.

For this exhibition, Wahler has selected two contemporary artists who have been gaining prominence in the international art scene. He invited them to create new works specifically for this show and to present them alongside significant pieces from their artistic careers. Tatiana Trouvé creates drawings, sculptures, and installations that incorporate materiality and architectural elements into her work. For this exhibition, she will present a series of new works using Brazilian stones and copper cable sculpturesarranged throughout the gallery space. Trouvé participated in the 52nd Venice Biennale and has received prestigious awards, including the Paul Ricard Prize (2001) and the Marcel Duchamp Prize (2007).

A renowned Swiss artist, Roman Signer is known for his "action sculptures", exploring the intersection between art and engineering. He is considered an important figure in contemporary art history, particularly in the realm of video art. In this exhibition, Signer will showcase a selection of his most significant video works, alongside a unique piece where a grand piano is played by a ventilation system.
