SUNDAY, NIGHT: TATIANA TROUVÉ & ROMAN SIGNER

A Baró Galeria tem o prazer de apresentar a exposição “Sunday, Night”, curada pelo francês Marc-Olivier Wahler.

Wahler foi curador do Palais de Tokyo entre 2006 e 2012; entre 2000 e 2006 curador do Swiss Institute – Contemporary Art (SI) em Nova York e também co-fundador do Centre d’Art Neuchâtel, Suíça.

Para a exposição a curadoria apresenta dois artistas contemporâneos que vêem se destacando no circuito internacional da arte contemporânea e os convidou a produzir obras especialmente para esta mostra e apresentá-las ao lado de peças relevantes em suas trajetórias artística.

Tatiana Trouvé (Itália/França), produz desenho, escultura e instalações incorporando a matéria e elementos arquitetônicos a seu trabalho. Na exposição Trouvé apresentará uma série de trabalhos inéditos utilizando pedras brasileiras e esculturas com cabos de cobre ao longo do espaço expositivo da galeria. Trouvé participou da 52ª Bienal de Veneza e em 2001 ganhou o premio Paul Ricard Prize e em 2007 o Marcel Duchamp Prize.

Roman Signer, artista Suíço, conhecido por suas “action sculptures” e hoje em dia um nome importante da história da video arte Belga produz obras que propõem a intersecção entre arte e engenharia. Signer apresentará uma peça inédita na qual um piano de calda é tocado por um sistema de ventilação ao lado de uma série de seus mais importantes trabalhos em vídeo.

The Baró Gallery is pleased to annouce the exhibition “Sunday, Night”, curated by Marc-Oliver Wahler.

Wahler was the director of Palais de Tokyo from 2006 to 2012, between 2000 and 2006 he was the director of the Swiss Institute – Contemporary Art (SI) in New York. He is also co-founder of the Centre d’Art Neuchâtel, Switzerland, founder of the magazine Palais/ and the chalet society, a new contemporary art space, scheduled to open in October 2012.

This exhibition features three contemporary artists with a relevant production in the international circuit. Wahler invited them to produce works especially for the show presenting along with pieces that is parts of their artistic careers.
Tatiana Trouvé (Italy / France), produces drawings, sculptures and installations incorporating  the material and architectural elements to her work. In the exhibition Trouvé present a series of new pieces using Brazilian stones and sculptures with copper cables throughout the gallery space. Trouvé participated in the 52nd Venice Biennale and in 2001 won the prize Paul Ricard Prize and in 2007 Marcel Duchamp Prize.

Roman Signer, Swiss artist, known for his “action sculptures” hás been a very important actor in contemporary art for the last 40 years. He produces artworks in the intersection between art and engineering In addtion of selection of his most important works in vídeo, Signer will present a unique piece where music is activated by ping pong balls on a grand piano strings
