Critical Landscapes: Selected Works From The Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collections

Currently on view at the MCA Denver: ‘Critical Landscapes: Selected Works from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection’, featuring works by represented artist Oscar Abraham Pabón alongside pieces by Ana Mendieta, Jac Leirner and Dario Escobar, among others.

The exhibition, made in collaboration with CIFO, seeks to highlight the respective ways in which each artist engages with the particular materials, histories and events of their environment, establishing a dialogue with the centers’ concurrent exhibition ‘Gala Porras-Kim: A Hand in Nature.’ The show will remain on view until September 1, 2024.

“With a number of works engaging with the intricate ideas and landscapes of Ecuador, Cuba and Brazil, these artists' works are deeply embedded in the specificities of their environment. In many instances, they are probing the ways in which natural resources are both celebrated and extracted, revered and commercialized in their specific contexts.”
