We are pleased to announce that the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam is organizing an exhibition of the work of Erwin Olaf set to open in Autumn 2025, marking the first exhibition in the Netherlands of Olaf's work since his sudden death in 2023.
“Erwin Olaf was incredibly versatile as an artist. In the forthcoming exhibition, we want to show the underexposed, more raw side of his work alongside several better-known photographs, series and films. We are curious to explore the various connections his work has with art, reportage, advertising, commissioned work, activism, magazine photography and film. Erwin Olaf was a free-thinker, and a tireless advocate for equal rights and freedom of expression. This formidable strength of his is in harmony with the values that the Stedelijk upholds.”
