We are pleased to announce TESORO [Treasure], the first European institutional solo exhibition by Abdus Salaam.
Curated by Lorenzo Belli, the exhibition opens on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Spazio Cappella Marchi, located in the Chiesa della Madonna del Carmine, Via G. Lombardi 38, Seravezza (LU), Italy. This landmark exhibition presents new works developed by Salaam during his six-week residency in Pietrasanta at Studio Maretti, a period of intense material and spiritual research in the heart of Italy’s historic marble region. There, immersed in centuries of artisanal tradition, the artist deepened his exploration of sculpture, sound, and painting as a unified language of devotion.
TESORO engages the symbolic and architectural resonance of the Marchi Chapel—transforming it into a multisensory sanctuary where marble, onyx, sound, pigment, and light converge. Anchored by the central sculpture Tesoro I, the exhibition articulates themes of love, transience, and surrender through a poetic dialogue between fragility and permanence. Sculptural works in statuario marble and Iranian onyx are accompanied by a meditative soundscape composed in the early hours of dawn, and paintings glazed with marble dust that merge seamlessly with the chapel’s historic surfaces.
Organized in partnership with Fondazione Terre Medicee and Comune di Seravezza, and in collaboration with Galleria Giovanni Bonelli, Pharma Cosmetic, Nira Alizia, Albedo, and Spazio Cappella Marchi.
