We are proud to announce the major solo exhibition of Ayako Rokkaku in China at the Long Museum Chongqing. From August 16th to October 15th, 2025, the museum will host “Close to Your Treasure”, a vibrant and immersive presentation of the celebrated Japanese artist’s work. The exhibition in Chongqing will bring together an extensive selection of works from different phases of her career, including large-scale paintings, shaped canvases, and sculptural pieces. The display invites visitors to explore Rokkaku’s evolving artistic vocabulary, her instinctive creative process, and the joyful, dreamlike universes she constructs.
Ayako Rokkaku, born in 1982 in Chiba, Japan, is internationally recognized for her distinctive hand-painted style, in which she applies acrylic paint directly with her fingers onto cardboard, canvas, and three-dimensional objects. Her imagery—often featuring wide-eyed, whimsical figures surrounded by lush, colorful worlds—blends influences from Japanese manga with an expressive, abstract sensibility. Over the past two decades, her works have been exhibited in leading museums and galleries across Europe and Asia, earning her a dedicated following and critical acclaim.
The Long Museum Chongqing, located on the 1st Floor of No. 9, JuXianYan Plaza, Jiangbei District, is one of China’s most prominent private art institutions, known for presenting both established masters and contemporary innovators. “Close to Your Treasure” will be open to the public during regular museum hours throughout its run, offering audiences in China a rare opportunity to experience the depth and breadth of Ayako Rokkaku’s artistic journey.
