VHILS presents “Nexus" ” at the XXIV Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira” at the XXIV Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira

Cerveira, Portugal

VHILS presents Nexus, a new immersive installation created for the XXIV Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira (BIAC), on view from July 18 to December 30, 2026, in Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal. The work is one of seven new pieces produced for the biennial and is part of the group exhibition “¿De qué casa eres?”, which takes its title from a work by Ana Pérez-Quiroga and brings together 46 artists from 16 countries around questions of identity, belonging, migration and interculturality.

Conceived specifically for its exhibition space at the Fórum Cultural, the historic home of the biennial, Nexus works with mirrors and optical effects to create a space where barriers appear to dissolve and extend to infinity. The installation speaks directly to this year’s theme, Territórios sem Fronteira (Borderless Territories).

Under the artistic direction of Mafalda Santos, the XXIV BIAC considers borders as geographical, political, social and symbolic constructions, bringing together exhibitions, performances, residencies and public programs across the town. Founded in 1978, the Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira is the oldest contemporary art event in Portugal.
