From 17 to 30 of june at Battistero Lateransense.
"Sindoni", the contemporary art exhibition organized on the occasion of the World Meeting of Families in Rome by the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute and the Sidival Fila Foundation in collaboration with the Diocese of Rome and the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life.
The installation, set up in the evocative setting of the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Laterano, collects eight canvases along the perimeter of the baptismal font, suspended two meters high.
The canvases were made by Sidival Fila using fabrics and floral elements dating back to various periods, from the eighth to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; they are Dalmatic linings of liturgical use applied, using a precise restoration technique, on cotton fabrics. On the back of the canvases, sheets of plexiglass mirrors have been applied, which reflect the elements as if they were windows open to infinite and indefinite spaces.
