Violeta Quispe at the 60th Venice Biennale

Stranieri Ovunque (Foreigners Everywhere) | April 20 – November 24 2024

We are pleased to announce the participation of Peruvian artist Violeta Quispe, currently exhibiting at Baró Galeria, at the 60th Venice Biennale, under the curatorship of Adriano Pedrosa.

The 60th International Art Exhibition will feature two paintings by Quispe: 'El Matrimonio de la Chola' (2022) and 'Apus Suyos' (2024, Jorge M. Perez Collection, Miami) a 2 by 2 metre work described by the artist as "a multiverse of almost 100 characters that delves into my gender concerns, which I was forced to have".

Under the title Stranieri Ovunque (Foreigners Everywhere), the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Biennale in Venice takes place between April 20 and November 24 at the Giardini and the Arsenale.

"La Biennale itself, as an international event with so many official participations by numerous different countries, has always been a platform for the exhibition of works of foreigners from all over the world. In this rich tradition, the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, the Biennale Arte 2024, will be a celebration of the foreign, the distant, the outsider, the queer, as well as the indigenous."

–Adriano Pedrosa, curator of the International Art Exhibition in Venice.
