Eduardo Kac is internationally acclaimed for pioneering Bio Art and for pushing the boundaries between art, science, and technology. In the 1980s, he created innovative digital, holographic, and online works that anticipated today’s information culture. In 1997, he coined the term Bio Art, marking a turning point with iconic works like GFP Bunny (2000) and Natural History of the Enigma (2009), the latter earning him the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica.
His art has ventured into space: Inner Telescope (2017) was realized aboard the International Space Station; Ágora (2024) now orbits the Sun; and Adsum landed on the Moon in 2025. Kac’s career spans poetry, performance, printmaking, telepresence, transgenics, and space art.His work has been shown at institutions like MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, Reina Sofia, and in major biennials including Venice, São Paulo, and Gwangju. Kac is also the author of key texts, including Telepresence and Bio Art (2005).
