Abu Dhabi Art 2025: Booth A28
-
Baró Galeria and O-Contemporary participate together for the first time at Abu Dhabi Art 2025 with the exhibition “Broken Geometries” at booth A28. The show brings together works by seven artists who explore fragmentation, repetition, and the reorganization of visual systems.
In Broken Geometries, artists Christopher Joshua Benton, Latifa Saeed, Mamali Shafahi, Mano Penalva, Mounir Fatmi, Rasheed Araeen, and Vhils examine systems of form, language, and memory through the disruption of their internal logic. Spanning generations and geographies, their practices dismantle inherited structures — from the grid of modernist abstraction to the rigidity of ideological narratives — reconfiguring them as spaces of multiplicity and rupture.Together, these artists operate within the terrain that remains after structure: where the grid is broken, the motif unraveled, and the system laid bare. Broken Geometries invites us to inhabit this space of fracture as one of possibility — where forms are not erased but collectively reimagined.
The exhibition marks the debut collaboration between Baró Galeria and O-Contemporary at Abu Dhabi Art, coinciding with the recent opening of Baró Galeria’s permanent space in Abu Dhabi, inaugurated in February 2025 — the first international gallery with a continuous physical presence in the city. This joint project reflects a shared commitment to a thoughtful program that unites long-standing collaborations with international artists and a focus on emerging talent from the MENA region. -
