Ayako Rokkaku: Playful, Stormy, Continuing
Curated by Ana Carolina RalstonBaró is pleased to return to São Paulo with a special pop-up exhibition presenting Playful, Stormy, Continuing, the first solo exhibition by Japanese artist Ayako Rokkaku in the city curated by Ana Carolina Ralston.
On view from 19 August to 3 September 2026 at Taller Zaragoza, the exhibition marks Baró’s return to São Paulo following the relocation of its headquarters to Spain. Bringing together approximately fifteen new works produced during the artist’s residency in São Paulo, the exhibition presents a body of work created entirely in Brazil.
Internationally acclaimed for her distinctive painterly language, Ayako Rokkaku is a self-taught artist who paints directly with her hands, without preparatory drawings or predetermined compositions. Following her introduction to Brazilian audiences through Baró’s presentations at the last two editions of SP–Arte, Rokkaku now presents her first solo exhibition in South America.
